Albergue Villares de Órbigo is an albergue along the Camino Francés voor pilgrims walking to Santiago de Compostella and is situated in a small village in the valley of the river Órbigo, 270 kilometers from Santiago de Compostela. The town is located between León (35km) and Astorga (16km).
Villares de Órbigo currently has about 615 inhabitants and includes a church dedicated to Santiago as well as a small health clinic open on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, a grocery shop, a pharmacy and a bar.
Albergue hostel Villares de Órbigo was inaugurated in 2010 by a young Spanish couple, Pablo and Belén who tastefully renovated the 100 year old farmhouse which is constructed around an inviting courtyard. Five years later the Belgian Christine took over the albergue , continuing the tradition of caring for pilgrims. When Christine decided to retire in 2020, Lee jumped at the chance to run her own albergue and make Spain her new home.
